DHL opens depot in Danang

12/15/2012 11:20:35 AM

Logistics company DHL has strengthened its Vietnam network by opening a new US$500,000 depot in the central city of Danang, according to Vietnam News Brief Service.

The 650 sq m depot is the latest investment made by DHL in Vietnam, further solidifying its market leading position in the country.

The facility serves as a central point for DHL’s customers in Danang and has the capability to process over 250,000 shipments annually. The opening of the new depot reinforces Danang’s status as the hub of the key economic zone in central Vietnam.

Built to international standards, the depot is also fully compliant with both Global Standard Operations Procedure (GSOP) and Transported Asset Protection Association (TAPA) standards.

“In recent years, we are seeing greater demand for fast and reliable international express services. This depot will ensure that our customers benefit from seamless connectivity from Vietnam to 220 countries and territories across DHL’s vast network. Danang is one of the country’s most important ports and supports industries such as machinery, electronics, chemicals, shipbuilding and textiles,” said Yasmin Aladad Khan, senior vice-president, DHL Express Southeast Asia.

Vietnam is gaining importance as a key trading partner both regionally and globally. Thus the investments that DHL has made in the country will prepare us for growth and allow us to continue supporting our customers with their needs in the future,” said Christopher Ong, general director, DHL-VNPT Express

DHL currently has eight other facilities in Vietnam with three service centres, three depots and two gateways.
