DHL launches new LCL service between Malaysia and Vietnam

8/30/2012 10:45:49 AM

Direct service from Port Kelang to Ho Chi Minh offers port to port shipment in 3 days saving customers up to 10 days

DHL Global Forwarding, the air and ocean freight specialist within Deutsche Post DHL, today announced the launch of its direct Less than Container Load (LCL) service between Malaysia’s Port Kelang and Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam. The new weekly LCL service between Port Kelang and Cat Lai offers the transit time port to port of 3 days saving customers up to 10 days and boosting intra-Asia trade flows between South-East Asia’s third and sixth largest economies[1]. This service not only ensures faster transport of goods to Vietnam, it also enables CO2-savings of up to 4%.

Kelvin Leung, CEO, DHL Global Forwarding Asia Pacific, said, “DHL is continually adapting to changes in the global marketplace so when we see a need for a new service like the one between Malaysia and Vietnam, we are best positioned to leverage our network to deliver what the customer wants. Giving companies in Asia fast, flexible, reliable and cost-efficient services to improve their global competitiveness, is DHL’s constant quest and the reason why we are vigorously expanding the LCL network.

DHL Global Forwarding currently operates the world’s largest LCL network with close to 2,000,000 cubic meters of LCL freight handled annually via 45,000 point-pairs. From Asia Pacific terminals, it offers coverage with more than 5,000 weekly point pairs from 46 Asia Pacific terminals and 116 destinations in intra-Asia.
