The new service, operated with a Boeing 767-300 aircraft, departs daily from Chicago and Dusseldorf. The service to Dusseldorf also provides connections to nearby Belgium, Luxemburg and the Netherlands.
Pharmaceutical products, medical instruments and automotive and aircraft parts are expected to be key commodities between the two countries.
In order to provide local customer support for the Dusseldorf area, American Airlines Cargo has expanded its German sales team. DUS Cargo Logistics has been appointed as the carrier’s handling agent in Dusseldorf.
“The addition of this new flight is a great boost to our operations here,” Egon Wedde, American’s regional cargo sales manager, said. “Chicago is an important hub in the airline’s network, and it’s a major selling point that we are now able to offer direct service to customers out of Germany.”
American Airlines will continue opening new cargo routes with the launch of its first-ever service to Seoul on May 9.
