Australia: new Wagga Rail Bridge opens

1/18/2007 10:34:53 AM

Australian Rail Track Corporation’s (ARTC) new AUD 16 million rail bridge across the Murrumbidgee river at Wagga Wagga was recently been opened for rail traffic.

The new bridge will improve traffic on the main south line between Sydney and Melbourne, as trains are now able to cross the bridge at 80 km/h rather than at 20 km/h on the old bridge. The bridge is part of ARTC's AUD 2 billion north-south rail investment programme.
