Kuehne+Nagel has expanded its logistics activities in Japan with the official inauguration of its new logistics centre in Narita.
A key factor in the choice of location for the facility was its proximity to Narita Airport - just 3.5 km away.
The facility features 10,000 m2 of warehousing and handling space and includes modern office premises. In addition to contract logistics, a section of the warehouse is dedicated to airfreight.
The new facility complies with all modern security and environmental standards and features modern warehouse management technology.
A key customer at the site is Japan Airlines. K+N operates the facility as a global logistics hub for all the national carrier’s in-flight catering requirements, serving the airline’s catering companies and service stations worldwide as well as checking and sorting returned goods.
According to K+N executive vice president of contract logistics, Dirk Reich, the new logistics centre underlines the company’s strategy of expanding contract logistics activities globally, with the aim of offering integrated logistics services in all countries.
The company plans to open two more locations in Japan this year.
