New African carrier plans London route

10/9/2013 10:07:48 AM

Botswana-based start-up airline Kalahari Airways says it wants to launch daily flights from Cape Town to London Gatwick via Gaborone next year.

It intends to deploy three ex-Qantas B747-400s on the route - if it can solve funding issues.

Ceo Denis Coghlan said he believes passenger demand on the route could be more than 100,000 annually.

The airline also would like to offer US flights - to New York and Los Angeles - via Shannon in Ireland.
