UK-based GSSA ANA Aviation Services has expanded its activities into the Caribbean with the opening of an office in Jamaica, to be followed by one in the Dominican Republic in May 2007.
In partnership with Network Cargo Systems of Canada, ANA intends to offer its Cargo GSSA services to carriers, as well as setting up and managing transfer links between points in the Caribbean, Latin and South America.
ANA Aviation Services manages cargo for Thomsonfly and Jetairfly, both of which have a considerable amount of capacity into the region, and represent a number of Latin American carriers that will be used to provide interlinks.
A lack of export cargo from some of the Caribbean Islands has forced ANA to find solutions, e.g. during the run up to Christmas, fruit originating in Chile was shipped via Barbados connecting with Thomsonfly’s flights into the UK, and ANA hopes to expand on the success of that business.
