ESC, ELAA meet for talks to iron out differences

2/23/2007 11:09:46 AM

THE European Shippers' Council and European Liner Affairs Association say that their members have held an exploratory meeting to discuss documentation issues.

"This is one of the issues our members have urged us to look into with carriers. This marks a positive step in relations between shippers and carriers we look forward to making progress on," said ESC Secretary General Nicolette van der Jagt in a joint statement.

More talks are expected to be held in future to further explore some of the main sticking points or problem areas. ELAA Executive Director Chris Bourne described the meeting as "an encouraging first step".
