Just ten months after Samskip boosted capacity on its Scandinavian and Baltic routes by 50%, the multimodal container logistics company is introducing another improvement to its Baltic, Russian and Scandinavian service coverage.
The company is deploying its 803 TEU newbuilding Samskip Explorer to link Hull and Rotterdam with Aalborg in Denmark and Helsingborg and Varberg in Sweden, while the 550 TEU Anna G will transport cargo from Helsingborg to Ventspils and Klaipeda.
In co-operation with its subsidiary Van Dieren Maritime, Samskip offers road and rail solutions from Ventspils to Moscow and from Klaipeda to Moscow via its own trucking operation.
According to Jens Holger Nielsen, CEO of Samskip Multimodal Container Logistics, the demand for intermodal logistics solutions is increasing, with more and more customers looking to transfer their goods from road to more reliable, cost effective and “greener” sea transportation alternatives.
To meet door-to-door and quay-to-quay customers’ demands for faster and more efficient receiving and handling of trucks, Samskip is introducing a call at Rotterdam’s Interforest Terminal.
By combining its Swedish and Baltic routes into an improved sailing plan, which reduces the number of port calls and sea miles, Samskip will be able to offer faster and more reliable transport solutions to the market.
The new services will operate on a fixed-day port call basis, beginning on February 22nd in Hull.
Samskip Explorer will call at Hull > Rotterdam (Interforest) > Aalborg > Helsingborg > Varberg > Hull. Anna G will call at Helsingborg > Ventspils > Klaipeda > Helsingborg.
Danish customers will be served either via the direct call in Aalborg or, in the case of Zealand, via Helsingborg. Sweden and Norway will be served via the rail hub system in Helsingborg and the port of Varberg.
The new schedule will enable door-to-door transit times such as Hull to Moscow in twelve days and Rotterdam to Moscow in eleven days.
