THE Busan New Container Terminal (BNCT) has announced that it has added its 12th Korean Marine Transportation Company (KMTC) feeder service, connecting the big Korean port with Sendai in Japan.
BNCT said that it will continue to support Busan's feeder network in the future with 700,000 TEU additional capacity coming in March 2015 as part of its Phase II expansion.
This added capacity will increase BNCT annual capacity from it current 1.8 million TEU to 2.5 million TEU, reports Port Technology International of Fareham, England.
As the most advanced terminal in Korea and the first vertically-automated in Asia, BNCT can berth four of the world's largest container vessels simultaneously at its 1,400-metre quay and draft of up to 17 metres.
