P3 launch pushed back to autumn

5/22/2014 8:57:48 AM

The proposed P3 Alliance that was expected to take off in the middle of this year is now expected to be launched in autumn of this year, according to CMA CGM, one of the three members of the alliance. The other two are Maersk Line and MSC.

The top three lines announced on June 18 2013 forming the P3 network with the intention to start operations by mid-2014.

On March 24, 2014, the US Federal Maritime Commission (FMC) decided to allow the P3 agreement to become effective in the US.

The P3 partners continue their close cooperation with competition and maritime authorities in Europe and Asia to address questions and to explain the nature of P3.

The overall aim of P3 is to make container liner shipping more efficient and improve service quality for the shippers.
