Maersk prepares to raise rates on Asia to ECSA

3/9/2007 9:27:15 AM

MAERSK (Hong Kong) has announced that starting April 1 it will be implementing a general rate increase on the Far East- South America east coast trade.

The rate hike will be US$200 per TEU for all shipments from Asia to the east coast of South America (excluding Manaus and Vila do Conde). The effective date will be based on cargo receipt date at origin, a company statement said.

The rate increase is being introduced in a bid to maintain present service levels in response to growing market demand in this trade.
