CMA CGM said it will start a new weekly service linking the East Coast of South America to Northern Europe at the end of November.
The new SAFRAN service will deploy six vessels of 2,800 TEUs each -- five from CMA CGM and one from Argentinian carrier Maruba Lines -- with a large number of reefer plugs to meet the increasing demand for refrigerated transport from Brazil and Argentina to Europe.
The service will effectively double CMA CGM's capacity in the trade. The service will also have a weekly stop at the French carrier's new Moroccan hub in Tangier Med, offering connection to the Middle East and North Africa.
The port rotation will be Rotterdam, Hamburg, Antwerp, Le Havre, Salvador de Bahia or Suape (every other week), Santos, Buenos Aires, Montevideo, Rio Grande, Itajaí, Paranagua, Rio de Janeiro, Tangier and Rotterdam.
