The first cargo flights between Taiwan and China have signalled a new era of direct air and shipping services between Taiwan and the mainland, ending nearly 60 years of isolation.
Up to 60 cargo flights a month between the two are planned.
Although China still claims sovereignty over Taiwan, both sides have agreed to focus on trade and ignore political tensions.
The first Taiwanese ships also are scheduled to leave Taiwan for China and mainland companies to sail vessels to Taiwan from Shanghai and Tianjin.
