CMA CGM subsidiary Delmas said it would offer a new call at the West Africa Container Terminal (WACT) in Onne, Nigeria, as part of the carrier’s feeder service connecting Abidjan, Ivory Coast to Bata and Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.
WACT is operated by APM Terminals, which said the WACT has recently increased its market share of the 150,000 or so TEUs available in the local market. That increase is expected to be bolstered by the Delmas service linking to Abidjan. Several CMA CGM vessels have a weekly call at Abidjan, where their volumes are transshipped via feeder services to the western coast of Africa.
WACT handled 72,000 TEUs in 2008, a 34 percent increase over 2007.
