Toll Group has entered into a joint venture arrangement with ANL Container Line for shipping services on the Bass Strait, which separates mainland Australia from Tasmania.
The joint venture will be known as Toll ANL Bass Strait Shipping, with 85 percent held by the Toll Group and the remainder by ANL.
“Toll Group’s customers will receive the same level of service from Toll ANL Bass Strait Shipping as they currently enjoy,” said Paul Little, managing director of the Toll Group. “Toll will continue to operate daily services of the Tasmanian Achiever and the Victorian Reliance between Melbourne and Burnie as the shipping service provider to the joint venture.”
The joint venture will begin operations Aug. 12. ANL, a Singapore-based subsidiary of CMA CGM, said it expects customers to benefit from increased sailings between Tasmania and Melbourne, where shipments can connect with overseas services.
