Maersk Vietnam, in coordination with Youth Social Works Center in Ho Chi Minh City, has ponsored a project for full renovation of Ham Hiep 1 Primary School, Suoi Dau Branch, which was presented on the national school opening day, 5-Sept-2009.
The renovation consists of 3 big classrooms with new rooftop, lighting, fans, painting, brandnew furniture and building of a new WC. Maersk also presented scholarships for 10 less fortunate pupils at all grades and gifts to all pupils of the school. The headmaster and teachers of the school are very appreciative and are happy that they and their pupils have a much better learning environment for not only this year but many years after.
“We believe that this new school will provide a much needed better environment for the teachers and pupils in their daily teaching and learning, and that it will have an immediate as well as long term positive effect”, said Mr. Peter Smidt-Nielsen, General Director of Maersk Vietnam.
"This is a very meaningful contribution of Maersk Vietnam to the society, nowadays there are not so many enterprises which focus their sponsorship to remote area like Maersk did in the last three years”, said Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc, Permanent Vice Chairman of Vietnam Central Youth Union.
