Hamburg Süd changes Turkey port calls

3/27/2010 9:59:20 AM

Hamburg Süd will move calls on the northern route of its Europe-Mediterranean Service to the TCEEGE Terminal in Aliaga instead of Izmir (Alsancak). The first port call in Aliaga, 55 kilometers north of Izmir in Nemrut Bay, will be made Friday by the Nicoline Maersk.

The German carrier said TCEEGE is a deepwater terminal featuring sufficient capacity both seaward and landward. In addition, the nearby rail station provides a fast link to the industrial areas in northern Turkey.

With the port call in Aliaga via the EMS northern route, and in Izmir via the southern route, Hamburg Süd now offer two port calls a week in the region around Izmir.
The new EMS northern route port rotation is Felixstowe, Bremerhaven, Gothenburg, Aarhus, Antwerp, Gioia Tauro, Piraeus, Kumport, Gebze-Evyap, Aliaga, Gioia Tauro, Valencia and Felixstowe.

The EMS southern route port rotation is Felixstowe, Hamburg, Antwerp, Valencia, Alexandria, Beirut, Lattakia, Mersin, Izmir, Salerno and Felixstowe.
