Container shipping line Mediterranean Shipping Co. said it will raise rates on shipments from the Far East to all parts of Europe beginning Aug. 1.
The emergency rate restoration, as the line calls it, is $400 per TEU, and applies to all shipments from China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia.
MSC rival Maersk Line last week said it would seek peak season surcharges of $600 to $1,200 per container on shipments from Asia to Europe, while CMA CGM also announced a suite of rate hikes and surcharge increases out of Asia.
