Ocean container carrier APL held a naming ceremony for the APL Sri Lanka, a newly built vessel, at the state-owned Jaya Container Terminal in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
The ship, with a capacity of 4,259 20-foot equivalent units, will be deployed in APL’s China India Express Service, which offers fixed-day weekly sailings on the intra-Asia trade route between East Asia and the Indian subcontinent.
The CIX, operated in conjunction with Orient Overseas Container Line, currently calls Xingang, Dalian, Qingdao, Busan, Kwangyang, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Singapore, Colombo, Nhava Sheva (Jawaharlal Nehru), Port Kelang (Westport), Singapore, Hong Kong, and back to Xingang, providing a 35-day round-trip voyage.
