The Land-Handover Ceremony for the Development of Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc General Terminal

On 23rd June 2010,  at Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park which is located at Hiep Phuoc Commune, Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh city, the land- hand over Ceremony  for the development of Tan Cang Hiep Phuoc General Terminal was solemnly organised  at the presence of representatives of Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc Port Joint Stock Company (THP), Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) as well as  the local leaders from Nha Be District, the management of the South industrial parks and processing zones.

 

The THP is an SNP’s  subsidiary. THP was established on April 6th 2010 in accordance with the Business Certificate No  0309924984 issued by the Investment and Planning Department of Ho Chi Minh City. The head office of THP is at A9- Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh city. The main business scope of the company is the operation of the general Terminal and Logistics services.

 

Implementing the Decision No 2190/QD-TTg dated December 24th 2009 by the Prime Minister on the development of the Sea Port System in Vietnam to 2020 and the tendency for the development up to 2030, Ho Chi Minh plans to develop the Hiep Phuoc terminals on the Soai rap river which will replace the existing terminals on  the Saigon River. Under this plan of Ho Chi Minh city and on the basis of the market demand, THP make the investment in building Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc  general terminal at  Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park, Ho Chi Minh city. Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc  is located on an area of 15.4 hectares of land. The terminal will have a berth on Soai rap river with 420 meters in length. The  draft at berth is  11meters and the terminal shall be able to accommodate the vessel of up to 30,000 DWT. The construction of the terminal will begin September 2010 and the terminal will be put into operation in the second Quarter of 2011. At the present, THP has 4 midstream handling facilities which can receive the 30,000 DWT vessels. THP will also build two CFS warehouses which is 18,000sqm for each and develop 350 metre berth for barging on Dong Dien river.

 

As the leading container operator in Vietnam, SNP aims at developing a perfect logistic network and creating the most convenience for customers in receipt/ delivery and transportation of the cargoes. Tan Cang- Hiep Phuoc Terminal which is on an advantageous location for  waterway an trucking ( next to two big IP Long Hau and Hiep Phuoc, convenient and close connectivity to Nguyen Van Tao, Nguyen Van Linh streets and National Road 1A, on the Soai Rap and Dong Dien river ) shall be an ideal place for handling barges and vessels as well as cargo receipt/deliver, a good forwarding place for Mekong Delta and make a contribution to the economy development of Ho Chi Minh City and Mekong Delta.
