The first vessel on a new all-water service operated jointly by MOL and “K” Line has called at Jacksonville.
The “SVE” (South China/Vietnam – the U.S. East Coast) service from Asia to the U.S. East Coast via the Suez Canal is made up of two MOL ships and seven “K” Line ships, with an average capacity of approximately 5,500 20-foot equivalent container units.
The first ship on the SVE service, the Suez Canal Bridge, called at Jaxport’s TraPac Container Terminal at Dames Point, which is operated by MOL’s terminal-operating division.
MOL’s partners in the New World Alliance, Hyundai and APL, as well as “K” Line and its partners in the CKYH Alliance, Cosco, Hanjin and Yang Ming, will make use of the new service.
The Suez Canal Bridge left the Port of Shekou, China in mid-May and called at Yantian, China; Singapore, Halifax, New York and Norfolk before arriving in Jacksonville early Wednesday. The ship is scheduled to call Savannah and Singapore before arriving back in Cai Mep, Vietnam. The port rotation of the SVE service is: Cai Mep, Shekou, Hong Kong, Yantian, Singapore, Halifax, New York, Norfolk, Jacksonville, Savannah, Singapore and back to Cai Mep.
