Hainan P O Shipping expanded its trans-Pacific service to include a weekly call at the Port of Oakland.
The vessel POS Hong Kong made the first call at the Oakland International Container Terminal. The weekly service links Oakland with Hong Kong, Yantian, Xiamen, Ningbo and Shanghai.
The service includes an integrated feeder network from outlying Chinese ports including Qingdao, Tianjin, Dalian and Nansha.
Hainan P O Shipping launched its trans-Pacific service in August between China and the Port of Long Beach. The carrier deploys five vessels with carrying capacities of 2,700 to 3,200 20-foot equivalent units.
Oakland is a major gateway for agricultural exports from California's Central Valley. The service links Oakland with two of the fastest-growing regions of China, the Yangtze River Delta and the Bohai Rim.
