OOCL will boost rates for dry and refrigerated shipments in its trade from Asia to the U.S., on July 1.
- For shipments to U.S. West Coast ports and Group 4 points, the hike will be $320 per 20-foot dry and reefer container, $400 per 40-foot dry container, $450 per 40-foot high-cube dry and reefer container and $505 per 45-foot high-cube dry container.
- For shipments to all other locations, the increase will be $480 per 20-foot dry and reefer container, $600 per 40-foot dry container, $675 per 40-foot high-cube dry and reefer container and $760 per 45-foot high-cube dry container.
Evergreen has also announced similar trans-Pacific rate increases. Both carriers are members of the Transpacific Stabilization Agreement. TSA carriers recently agreed to prop up freight rates as the start of the peak shipping season gets closer.
OOCL will also implement a yen appreciation surcharge for dry and reefer shipments from Japan to Hong Kong, Macau and South China, as well as a bunker surcharge for all dry shipments from the U.S. and Canada to Hong Kong, Macau and South China. Both surcharges will take effect on July 1.
