Delta Offers Customers More of Hawaii with Two New Nonstop Flights from Los Angeles to Lihue and Kona

10/25/2007 10:45:55 AM

Delta Air Lines’ (NYSE: DAL) customers worldwide will enjoy new connections to two of Hawaii’s major islands as the airline adds nonstop flights between its Los Angeles gateway and Lihue on the island of Kauai and Kona on the “Big Island” of Hawaii, effective June 5, 2008. With the additional flights, Los Angeles will continue to serve as Delta’s largest gateway to Hawaii with five daily round-trip flights from southern California to four of Hawaii’s major destinations.

“The addition of flights to Lihue and Kona marks another step in Delta’s efforts to establish the world’s broadest network of destinations for our customers,” said Glen Hauenstein, Delta’s executive vice president. “These newest destinations will allow customers to explore the beaches of the Coconut Coast while enjoying the beauty of the Garden Island or snorkeling off the sandy shores of the Kohala coast, all with convenient flight connections through our growing Los Angeles gateway.”

In addition to flights between Hawaii and Los Angeles, Delta also offers customers nonstop service to Hawaii from Atlanta and Salt Lake City. With next summer’s schedule, Delta plans to offer customers a total of nine daily round-trip flights between its mainland gateways and the Hawaiian islands.

Flights will be operated with a mix of Boeing 757-200, 767-300 and 767-400 aircraft seating between 178 and 277 passengers. All Delta flights between the mainland and Hawaii feature First Class and Economy Class service. Delta Air Lines operates service to more worldwide destinations than any airline with Delta and Delta Connection flights to 310 destinations in 54 countries.
