Taiwan’s Evergreen Line and China’s COSCO Container Lines will from early June split their joint China/Persian Gulf (CPG) service into two independent services on which they will swap slots from each other.
The existing CPG uses six ships of about 3,000 TEUs (three from each carrier) on a rotation of Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Hong Kong, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Karachi, Singapore, Hong Kong and Qingdao.
The replacement services will be:
• CPG1: using five COSCO ships of about 3,400 TEUs on a rotation of Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian, Singapore, Jebel Ali, Bandar Abbas, Karachi, Singapore and back to Shanghai.
• CPG2: six same-size Evergreen vessels calling Qingdao, Shanghai, Ningbo, Yantian), Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Jebel Ali, Dammam, Nhava Sheva, Singapore, Kaohsiung and Qingdao.
“With these two new loops, Evergreen and COSCO will be able to widen the range of market visibility in Far East/Middle East trade,” Evergreen said in a statement.
