MSC to call at the Port of Salalah

5/26/2008 9:56:15 AM

Swiss container line Mediterranean Shipping Co. has signed an agreement with the Port of Salalah to add calls at the Oman port from June on its main services between Asia and Europe.

In 2007, the Port of Salalah handled 2.6 million TEUs and 2.8 million tons of bulk and general cargo at its terminals. The port is managed and operated by A.P. Moller - Maersk subsidiary APM Terminals and is a joint venture between the Danish group, the government of Oman, and other Omani investors.

The port plans to increase its annual container capacity to about 6 million TEUs by mid-2009.
