Express Taiwanese ocean carrier Evergreen will at the end of this month replace its joint North Asia-China-Australia Express (NCA) service with Hanjin Shipping with a new string linking East Asia with Australia.
Evergreen said that the Taiwan-China-Australia Express (TCA) will effectively offer the first direct connection between the two regions.
The TCA will use five vessels of about 1,600 TEUs on a rotation of Kaohsiung, Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Hong Kong, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Kaohsiung.
“Evergreen Line is always keen to promote the Australian import and export business and the new TCA will help address the need for additional capacity on East Asian trade routes," said an Evergreen spokesperson.
Hanjin previously said it would replace the NCA service by teaming with Sinotrans, STX Pan Ocean and Heung-A Shipping to start the China-Korea-Australia (CKA) service calling Busan, Shanghai, Ningbo, Kaohsiung, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney and back to Busan.
