US Navy foils pirate attack on ship

The US Navy stopped a pirate attack on a merchant vessel north of Somalia in the Gulf of Aden recently, according to the Chicago Tribune.   The USS Peleliu responded to a call for help from the Gem of Kilakari on Friday morning. The ship said it was under attack from pirates as it travelled to the Suez Canal.   The suspected pirate ships fled when the Peleliu launched helicopters. No injuries were reported.   CargonewsAsia
