Hanjin Shipping will begin a dedicated feeder service between Korea and Japan on August 24th.
The Korea-Japan Service (KJS) is a dedicated weekly feeder service in which one 400 TEU vessel will rotate between Busan - Tokyo - Osaka - Busan.
The main purpose of this service includes promoting sales within Asia and reducing vessel operation time while transhipping Japanese local cargo to Europe and the US.
Hanjin expects that the introduction of the new KJS will reduce bottlenecks at Asian ports for the services that call Japan. Furthermore, transhipment at the company's dedicated terminal in Busan will be an added benefit for Hanjin and its customers.
Instead of securing vessel space from feeder lines case by case, Hanjin Shipping will deploy its own ship that will enable the company to provide its customers with stable supply of vessel space even during the peak seasons.
Meanwhile, Hanjin Shipping plans on expanding its feeder network along with the existing services in Persia, Singapore, Bangladesh and North China.
