Malaysia Cargo starts Johor/Tokyo freighter flight

9/12/2009 9:32:09 AM

Malaysia Airlines Cargo this week started a weekly freighter service from the southern Malaysian city of Johor Bahru to Tokyo Narita.

The new service will use a Boeing 747-400F, departing Malaysia every Saturday and arriving in Japan Sunday morning.

MASkargo aims to transport electronic equipment and gadgets, garments as well as perishable items such as flowers and tuna fish.

“We have added this new route to meet the growing demand for cargo in the southern region,” said En Shahari Sulaiman, MASkargo managing director. “We see Johor Bahru as having vast potential growth for business.”

The stop in Johor Bahru is part of a service that originates in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s capital.
