Singapore Airlines says it has Australasia as a target destination for its new long-haul airline when it launches next year.
Other destinations are likely to include north Asia, Europe, India and the Gulf states.
It is believed the as-yet unnamed Singaporean airline (possibly Scoot) will launch with a single B777 and plans to have three more in service by next July, increasing to 14 by 2016. Services are scheduled to begin in April 2012.
