Merger of Asia-SA and Latin services in slack season

In an effort to balance supply and demand during the forthcoming traditional low season, CMA CGM, CSAV and CSCL on one hand and Hamburg Süd and Maersk Line on the other hand, have reached an agreement to combine their services between Asia, South Africa and the East Coast of South America as from December 2011.

Two weekly services are currently operated on this trade. For the period from December 2011 to May 2012, the existing ASAX/SEAS Sling 2 service (operated by CMA CGM, CSAV and CSCL) will be merged with the existing ASAS/NGX Sling 2 service (operated by Hamburg Süd and Maersk Line).

The current capacity deployed by the carriers on the ASAS/NGX Sling 1 service and ASAX/SEAS Sling 1 service will remain unchanged and independent.

Consequently, the services offered on the Asia, South Africa, and East Coast of South America trade will be organised as follows:

ASAX/SEAS sling 1: 11 vessels of 6,500 TEUs each. Participating carriers: CMA CGM, CSAV, CSCL.

ASAS/NGX sling 1: 11 vessels of 7,100-7,450 TEUs. Participating carriers: Hamburg Süd and Maersk Line.

New joint service: 11 vessels of 4,200-4,600 TEUs. Participating carriers: CMA CGM, CSAV, CSCL, Hamburg Süd, and Maersk Line.
Rotation: Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Hong Kong, Chiwan, Tanjung Pelepas, Singapore, Durban, Rio de Janeiro, Paranagua, Itajai, Santos, Port Elizabeth, Durban, Singapore, Hong Kong, Shanghai.

The first vessel of this new joint service will be the Cap Jackson sailing from Shanghai on December 16.
