3/30/2012 10:24:23 AM

Maersk Line plans to implement a series of general rate increases on various trade lanes, as part of a new rate restoration program.

The Danish ocean carrier said it will raise its rates by $150 per 20-foot container on shipments from Far East Asia, excluding Japan, to the Indian Subcontinent, starting April 15.

From India to Kenya and Tanzania, rates will go up by $150 per 20-foot container and $300 per 40-foot container, effective April 15.

The planned increase on dry cargo moving from Far East Asia to the east coast of South America will be $600 per 20-foot and $1,200 per 40-foot/45-foot/high cube container, also effective April 15.

From North Europe to the Indian Subcontinent, Maersk will apply an increase of $250 per 20-foot and $500 per 40-foot dry container, starting May 1.
