Thai Airways International will introduce its first B747-400 retrofitted cargo freighter aircraft to Sydney from 15 May.
Thai’s cargo freighter aircraft is equipped to carry 100 tons per flight.
It will have two B747-400 retrofitted freighters servicing Europe and Australia from Bangkok as well as nine cities including Taipei, Tokyo, Hyderabad, Chennai, New Delhi, Frankfurt and Amsterdam.
The Sydney flight will arrive early evening on a Tuesday, departing the same day late evening.
Tony Mulherin, Thai Airways International Cargo manager Australia said the introduction of a dedicated freighter service to Sydney opened up a raft of new opportunities for forwarders. "The new service will enable us to offer creative logistics solutions to our customers," said Mulherin.
He said the markets were still in recovery stage, both in Thailand and Australia.
Payloads on the new freighter services are expected to comprise livestock, perishables and general freight.
