Air France-KLM, Etihad, AirBerlin form partnerships

10/10/2012 10:09:29 AM

Air France-KLM, Etihad Airways and airberlin are forging new commercial partnerships that will expand their networks by adding new destinations to their existing routes, reported Dow Jones Newswires.

On routes between Europe and Abu Dhabi, Etihad Airways customers will be able to fly on the Amsterdam-Abu Dhabi daily flight operated by KLM. Air France customers will be able to travel between Paris-Charles de Gaulle and Abu Dhabi on flights operated by Etihad Airways, the airlines said in a statement.

Beyond their gateways, the code-share agreement offers five destinations each to Air France and KLM passengers in Asia and Australia, while Etihad will benefit from 10 European destinations on Air France and KLM.

Air France and airberlin have agreed on a separate codeshare agreement, allowing customers of either carrier to fly on all the routes operated by the other between France and Germany.

Passengers will also be able to connect to some selected destinations via Paris for airberlin, and via Berlin or Dusseldorf for Air France.

Additionally, KLM and airberlin will cooperate on routes between the Netherlands and Germany.

Etihad is a shareholder in airberlin with a 29.2 percent stake.
