PIL's feeder arm revises RGS to add calls in Mundra and Port Sudan

12/24/2012 10:40:39 AM

PIL's feeder operator, Advance Container Line, has reshuffled its Red Sea, Middle East and Pakistan feeder services, to include an extra port call at the Indian port of Mundra (RGS).

An Alphaliner report said Port Sudan has also been added to the revised RGS service, instead of being served separately.

The amended port rotation for the RGS is Djibouti, Jeddah, Port Sudan, Djibouti, Mundra, Karachi, Bandar Abbas, Jebel Ali, Aden and back to Djibouti with a 28-day turnaround.

The RGS uses four 2,600-TEU vessels, which have progressively replaced four 1,510-TEU ships. It said the larger 2,600-TEUers have been taken from PIL's former standalone Asia-Red Sea service, after a brief stint on its Asia-West Africa services for two of the containerships.

The Lower Red Sea ports of Hodeidah, Massawa and Berbera, served with the former version of the RGS, continue to be served through a dedicated feeder IRS service hubbing at Djibouti, deploying a 1,510-TEU vessel. It said both the RGS and IRS connect at Djibouti with PIL's Asia-Red Sea service.
