JAPAN's "K" Line has taken in charge the 9,592-TEU Hangzhou Bay Bridge that it has received on a long-term charter from Japanese owners.

The containership is the 12th in a series of 13 ranging in size from 9,040 TEU to 9,592 TEU carrying 18 rows of containers abeam. The ships were ordered in three phases from Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries (IHI Japan) in September 2003, February 2005 and December 2007, reports Alphaliner. It said the last four units are of a modified design.

The Hangzhou Bay Bridge is to join the CKYH Asia-Mediterranean MD 2 service, and follows the Houston Bridge that was delivered in June.
