A group of public agencies in the US state of California, including the port of Oakland, are planning to establish a railway line from the port of Oakland to the inland area of Stanislaus County.
It will be used to transport freight containers from the port to Crows Landing Air Facility in Stanislaus County, where they can be transloaded for further distribution by road or rail. The port of Oakland hopes this will attract “first port of call” business from ports like Los Angeles or Long Beach (both CA/USA).
