UK multi-modal forwarder JLS Logistics is to change its name to BALtrans Logistics UK Limited effective 22 January reflecting its ownership by Hong Kong-based BALtrans Holdings. JLS UK has offices at London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Southampton and Basildon.
The company was launched in 1987 as Clover Systems Airfreight, by former directors and staff of Jardine Cargo International, then newly-merged with major competitor MSAS. In 1990 a controlling stake in Clover was acquired by Jardine Pacific and the company was re-branded as JLS Logistics UK. The entire JLS Logistics global operation was acquired in January 2003 from parent Jardine Pacific by BALtrans. Coincident with the change of name Eddie Stroud has been promoted to managing director of BALtrans UK, while John Gomes moves up to the new post of UK chairman.
