Hapag-Lloyd's Asia-Australia Rates to Increase

6/17/2013 9:05:33 AM

Hapag-Lloyd will boost rates for all cargo and container types in its trade from Northeast Asia to Australia, beginning July 1.

The hike will be $100 per 20-foot-equivalent unit, the container line said. Furthermore, Hapag-Lloyd will raise Northeast Asia-to-Australia rates again on July 15 by $200 per TEU. Mediterranean Shipping Co. has also planned the same incremental rate increases for this trade lane.

Additionally, the carrier will implement three more rate increases for all cargo and container types on July 15:

  • From East Asia to Mexico and the west coast of Central America and South America, the increase will be $750 per TEU.
  • From East Asia to the Caribbean, east coast of Central America and Panama, the hike will be $980 per 20-foot container and $1,400 per 40-foot container.
  • From East Asia, the Indian subcontinent and the Middle East to South America’s east coast, the increase will be $750 per TEU.
