SHENZHEN's deepwater Yantian International Container Terminals (YICT) says the Asia-Europe Loop 1 (AES1) service operated by CKYH Alliance members Cosco, Yang Ming, Hanjin and "K" Line has become the first new European service to call at the port this year.
The new service replaces the former AE4 service to provide increased cargo capacity and faster transit times.
The service's maiden voyage was undertaken by the 8,200-TEU YM Ultimate, one of eight 8,000-TEU ships deployed by the CKYH Alliance on its new European service that takes 19 days to reach Rotterdam from southern China's Yantian.
The port rotation for the AES1 service is: Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Kaohsiung, Yantian, Singapore, Rotterdam, Hamburg, Felixstowe, Antwerp, Singapore, Kaohsiung and Shanghai. The service calls at Yantian every Wednesday, a statement from YICT said.
By the end of January, YICT will receive 80 scheduled shipping services a week.
Yantian International Container Terminals is equipped with 11 deep-water container berths and is developing a further six berths due for completion by 2010.
YICT is a member of the Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH) Group, which operates a total of 255 berths in 44 ports worldwide.
