THE Port of Los Angeles has posted a 4.76 per cent decline in October volume to 684,207 TEU year on year while the rival San Pedro Bay Port of Long Beach reported an 8.7pc rise to 576,502 TEU in the same period.
LA imports declined 5.14 per cent to 346,137 TEU in October, while exports fell 5.7 per cent to 169,568 TEU. Combined, total loaded imports and exports for October decreased 5.32 per cent to 515,705 TEU.
Long Beach imports were up 7.8 per cent to 298,271 TEU while exports increased six per cent to 141,457 TEU with empties rising 13.9 per cent to 136,774 TEU.
Year to date, Los Angeles posted a 5.43 per cent volume decline while Long Beach box volume increased 13.2 per cent.
