1/22/2014 9:35:45 AM

Freight volumes at Leipzig/Halle Airport in Germany set a record for the ninth time in a row.

Leipzig/Halle handled 887,101 tonnes of freight in 2013, an increase of 2.7 percent.

“Leipzig/Halle Airport has continued to enhance its position as Germany’s second-largest cargo hub and has also reinforced its ranking as one of the most important airfreight handling centers in Europe,” Markus Kopp, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding, said.

Mitteldeutsche Airport Holding is the parent brand of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, which has three subsidiaries: Leipzig/Halle, Dresden International Airport and PortGround.

The group handled 887,281 tonnes of freight in 2013 and directly employs 1,010 people.
