Mitsui OSK Lines has announced an update to its container service with the start of the Japan/China Service 2 (JC2).
The move is MOL’s response to robust growth of containerised cargo traffic into, out of, and within Asia.
The new JC2 service is offered through a space charter from Taipei-based Wan Hai Lines. By adding the JC2 service, MOL will upgrade its direct services from South China to Japan with current MOL-operated services, while the service to Kansai and Kyushu will start again.
The new service befgns with the MV Hansa Rostock arriving in Yantian on March 23, 2007.
The port rotation will be: Yantian (Fri/Sat) > Hong Kong (Sat/Sat) > Osaka (Thu/Thu) > Kobe (Fri/Fri) > Tokuyama (Sat/Sat) > Moji (Sat/Sun) > Hakata (Sun/Sun) > Hong Kong (Fri/Fri).
JC2 service transit times from South China to Japan will be Shenzhen (Shekou/Yantian) to Tokyo, 4 days; to Tokuyama 7 days; to Yokohama 5 days; to Moji 7 days; to Osaka 5 days; to Hakata 8 days; to Kobe 6 days.
From Xiamen, transit time to Tokyo will be 3 days, to Kobe 5 days, to Yokohama 3 days, to Osaka 6 days, to Nagoya 4 days.
