Canada’s Toronto Pearson airport improved freight throughput for 2006. The airport handled 505,000 tonnes of cargo last year, an increase of 6.3 per cent over 2005.
Aircraft movements also increased to a total 418,000 in 2006 an increase of 2.1 per cent over 2005. Total passenger traffic climbed to 30.9 million for 2006 with both domestic and international travel scoring good gains. Domestic traffic was 13.5 million (up 4.3 per cent over 2005), passengers travelling to or from the United States (trans-border): 8.9 million and passengers travelling outside of Canada or the U.S. (international): 8.5 million (up 4.6 per cent on 2005). Total passenger traffic increased 3.5 per cent over 2005.
