AN "air bridge" will be set up to handle cargo between Indonesia and MidAmerica Airport in near St Louis, Missouri, following the signing of an agreement by company officials in Jakarta.
The development is being hailed as a major milestone in attracting foreign air cargo operations to the nine-year-old airport.
The agreement paves the way for regular cargo service between MidAmerica and Hang Nading International Airport on Batam in the Riau Islands province of Indonesia, reports The St Louis Post-Dispatch.
Other parties to the agreement are the Batam Industrial Development Authority, which manages the Hang Nading airport; Oregon-based Evergreen International Airlines and Cardig International, an aviation services provider based in Indonesia
