Continental Airlines will start daily nonstop flights between Newark Liberty International Airport and Mumbai in India on Oct. 30, subject to government approval.
Continental has operated nonstop service between New York and Delhi since 2005, and the new call at Mumbai will become the airline’s 30th city on its transatlantic network.
Continental’s New York/Newark-Mumbai service will be operated by Boeing 777-200 aircraft with flying times of about 14 hours and 50 minutes eastbound, and 16:15 westbound.
“We are excited about extending our Indian route network to include nonstop service to Mumbai,” said Jim Compton, Continental’s executive vice president of marketing. “Mumbai is the largest transatlantic market not currently served by Continental and offers significant opportunities for growth in the future.”
