Sea Star Line, which operates container/roll-on, roll-off ships between Jacksonville, Fla., and Puerto Rico, will add a weekly call at Philadelphia next month, the Philadelphia Regional Port Authority said.
The service will use the Tioga Marine Terminal, which Sea Star President Franke Peake said “provides ready access to highways and intermodal facilities, quick gate turns, on-site warehouse space, reefer plug availability, heavy-lift cranes and ample space.”
Sea Star is one of four carriers operating between the U.S. mainland and Puerto Rico, which is served mainly through Jacksonville. Crowley Maritime already has a presence in the Philadelphia area with its service to Pennsauken, N.J. Horizon Lines said last month it was considering shifting its weekly calls at New York-New Jersey to Philadelphia.
