APL and Hamburg Sud will cooperate in a vessel-sharing agreement linking the West Coast of South America with Central American ports and connecting with the carriers’ linehaul services.
The new West Coast Express (WCX) service replaces APL’s Panama Andean Express 2 service. APL will operate two vessels and Hamburg Sud will operate one vessel, each with a nominal capacity of 1,300 20-foot-equivalent units.
The service’s port rotation will be Balboa, Panama; Paita, Peru; Guayaquil, Ecuador; Balboa; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico; La Union, El Salvador; Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica; and Balboa. The first sailing will be Sept. 4 from Balboa on the vessel Mizar.
